Mark Olalde

Mark Olalde is an environmental reporter who has covered mining and energy policy in the U.S., southern Africa and the Caribbean. He laid the groundwork for his ongoing investigations into South Africa's abandoned mines in 2015 when he published stories in Yale Environment 360 and across South African media platforms, earned recognition as an Honorary Research fellow at the Wits City Institute in Johannesburg and was named an Associate at the Oxpeckers Center for Investigative Environmental Reporting.
