Maranie Staab

REPORTING FELLOW

Maranie Staab is a storyteller—a photographer, videographer, and journalist. Her work focuses on human displacement, social justice issues and the effects of conflict, with special attention to the stories of women and girls.

Says Staab, "In 2015 I left a well-paying yet unfulfilling job to pursue journalism and have spent since finding my way, fueled by conviction, the support of others and  just the right amount of grit. I believe in the importance of journalism, the power of images and words and the responsibility to pursue intimate stories and under discussed issues."

Staab has worked throughout Eastern and Western Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Though she calls Pittsburgh home, Staab is currently based in Syracuse, New York, while she completes a Master's program at Syracuse University. She is the 2020 Reporting Fellow for Syracuse.
