Kara Andrade

Kara Andrade is a senior change leader at Ashoka, which identifies and supports the world's leading social entrepreneurs and embraces these new frameworks to build an everyone a changemaker world. In the past she was program director at the International Center for Journalists and senior innovation specialist for Counterpart International's Innovation for Change Initiative which supported and started regional innovation hubs in seven regions.
Kara is also an adjunct professor and PhD candidate at American University’s School of Communication. As an Ashoka fellow and Fulbright scholar she co-founded HablaCentro Informatics NFP and LLC, a network of citizen journalism and information sharing hubs in Latin America that shared reliable and timely updates from the ground during crisis. Her work through her storytelling, social venture, research and in the development sector focuses on the adoption and implementation of innovations to solve common democracy problems.
