Perils of Pregnancy: Black Maternal Mortality

Authors:

Journalists Herbert L. White and Kylie Marsh will unwind a health crisis that the United States has yet to overcome: why Black women are more likely than their white peers to die before, during, and after childbirth.

As Southerners, White and Marsh are especially aware of the region's history of racial and economic discrimination. They will report on efforts to close the mortality gap, especially in terms of investments to improve birth outcomes.
