Ian James


Ian James is a journalist who writes about water and the environment for The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, California. He is a member of the newspaper's investigative team, and his work also regularly appears in USA Today. He helped produce a 2014 series about climate change in the Southwest that won an Associated Press Media Editors' Journalism Excellence Award for Digital Storytelling. Ian previously covered international news for more than a decade, reporting from Venezuela and the Caribbean for the Associated Press. He is the author of the book "Ninety Miles: Cuban Journeys in the Age of Castro," about the lives of three Cubans during Fidel Castro's rule. He has appeared on NPR's Morning Edition, the PBS NewsHour, and other radio and television programs
