Elena Bruess

2020 POST-GRAD REPORTING FELLOW

Elena Bruess is a multimedia journalist and writer specializing in the nexus of the environment, health and human rights. She is a recent MSJ graduate of the Medill School of Journalism where she covered issues in climate change adaptation and environmental injustice as a Comer Environmental Scholar. She has reported on the environmental impacts of war, Indigenous Nations in the Pacific Northwest, and industrial pollution in Chicago. Previously, Elena worked in editorial operations and production for The Onion, Booklist Publications, and the Iowa Review. Her writing has been published in Circle of Blue, South Side Weekly, The Outline, Chicago Magazine, and others.
