Budi Nurgianto started his journalism career in 2007, when he joined a local daily newspaper in North Maluku. He worked there for a year. After that, he became a Tempo correspondent.
He has won several journalism competitions, and was selected as a delegate in the International Visitor Leadership Program in the United States in 2015.
He is active in the Alliance of Independent Journalists and the National Board of the Association of Indonesian Environmental Journalists.
