Grantee Hilke Schellmann will participate in a Howard University panel discussion titled “AI’s Power: Truths, Myths, and Unknowns.” Hosted by the Cathy Hughes School of Communications, the panel will explore how artificial intelligence is a driving force in social media and digital technology with the power to reshape communication. Join the discussion on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 6:00pm EDT.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. The conversation will also be live-streamed for virtual audiences. 

Howard University is a Pulitzer Center Campus Consortium partner. While on campus, Schellmann will also speak with students and visit classrooms. 

Hilke Schellmann is an Emmy-award-winning journalism professor at New York University and a freelance reporter holding artificial intelligence accountable. Her project at the Pulitzer Center's AI Accountability Network covers how businesses use AI hiring tools. Her most recent story for the Network revealed how gender bias in social media algorithms objectifies and marginalizes women content creators.
