With global temperatures rising, the trend is for extreme rainfall events to become more intense and frequent. In Rio de Janeiro, a large part of the population lives in areas susceptible to flooding or landslides.

In a slideshow, we listed 10 measures to reduce the risks of disasters caused by heavy rainfall in the city. These include alarm sirens and other early-alert systems, evacuation routes, support stations, emergency kits, maintenance of urban rivers, meteorological stations, situation rooms, shelters, and nature-based solutions to urban design.

10 medidas para evitar tragédias causadas por chuvas extremas

Com o aumento da temperatura global, a tendência é que eventos extremos de chuva se tornem cada vez mais intensos e frequentes. No Rio de Janeiro, onde grande parte da população vive em áreas suscetíveis a enchentes ou deslizamentos de terra, os meteorologistas indicam que isso já é uma realidade.

Numa apresentação de slides, listamos 10 medidas para reduzir os riscos de desastres causados por chuvas fortes na cidade. Entre elas estão sirenes de alarme e outros sistemas de alerta, rotas de evacuação, postos de apoio, kits de emergência, manutenção de rios urbanos, estações meteorológicas, salas de situação, abrigos e soluções de desenho urbano baseadas na natureza.
