Sowing in the Dark: Smallholder Farming Amid the Climate Crisis in Colombia's Montes de María

Country:

Sowing in the Dark is a journalistic investigation into how the climate crisis is transforming small-scale farming in María La Baja, a municipality in the Montes de María region that supplies food to much of the Colombian Caribbean.

This project aims to tell the story of this crisis through the voices of the small-scale farmers, who have sustained the country’s food supply for decades.

Reporting highlights the farmers' resilience, their responses to the climate crisis, the institutional gaps in climate adaptation, and the solutions they propose as an agricultural community based on their own climatic realities.
