Betty Zambrano Zabaleta

Betty Zambrano Zabaleta is a freelance journalist specializing in Afro-Latin American and Caribbean issues. Zambrano is the founder of Upa!, a community journalism collective in the Caribbean, and an editor at Afrocolectiva.
She has covered stories from the ethnic territories of the Caribbean in Colombia. She has written for and collaborated with several media outlets, including Casa Macondo, Revista Vive Afro, Consejo de Redacción, Cerosetenta, Distintas Latitudes, Aj+Plus Español, and América Futura.
Zambrano is also a member of La Red LATAM de Jóvenes Periodistas (the Latin American Network of Young Journalists) and the Network of Afro-Latin American Journalists.
