Plastic Recycling in Manila’s Happyland Slum

A few minutes' walk from where I documented teens widowed due to former Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war, family-run, community-based plastic recycling businesses are thriving. They are providing income in a multi-generational, financially disadvantaged community called “Happyland” in Manila’s Tondo port district while reducing plastic washing out to sea.
