From 2024 to 2025, photographer and journalist Marcos Quinones documented New York City student protests against the Israel-Gaza war—from street demonstrations to student encampments on college campuses.
Inspired by the work of writer and civil rights activist James Baldwin, Quinones’ photo essay, "The Fire This Time," explores the often discordant intersection of student protesters demanding to be heard, law enforcement, and journalists documenting the demonstrations.
