For years the Congo Basin region has been at the top of the list of global food crises despite having fertile lands and abundant water resources. A huge share of its population faces acute food insecurity, mainly due to ethnic and resource conflicts.
For this reporting project, a small team of investigative journalists met communities involved in conflict over land and agricultural resources, and extensively researched data in order to measure the impact of different agricultural production models.
The result is an evidence-based picture of what can be produced by different types of international investments in the fields of agricultural production development, food security, and food system sustainability.
