Extractive Industries

Digging for gold, drilling oil wells, and extracting lithium for car batteries. Industries that pull products from the Earth contribute to the destruction of natural carbon sinks like rainforests and oceans. At a time crucial to stopping the advance of global warming, there is an increased demand for these primary products with governments stockpiling gold, the rising production of e-vehicles, and the ever-growing plastics industry.

They have uncovered how backroom deals between industry, government, and organized crime undermine the protection of local communities and nature reserves.
