An investigation published by The Texas Observer, along with The Guardian, examines the impact the oil and gas industry has on the coastal regions of Texas, where there has been very little comprehensive coverage when it comes to climate change and the environment. By focusing on the broader coastal region, and honing in on areas surrounding proposed sites for new liquid natural gas facilities, this reporting will be able to show the full statewide, and perhaps even global, the footprint of the oil and gas export industry.

The project uses a combination of techniques in order to create a comprehensive look at the impact these facilities have on the environment.

Notably, the combination of drone photography, long exposure photography, and light painting helps illustrate the true dimensions of these facilities by superimposing their likeness onto the proposed site location. The resulting photographs will give readers a deeper understanding of the extent to which the facilities impact their environments and our climate, and allow for the visualization of something that has not happened yet.
