Manuela Andreoni covers environmental issues with an emphasis on the Amazon for The New York Times, working in partnership with the team led by Brazil bureau chief Ernesto Londoño and the climate desk in New York. During her fellowship, she will report on deforestation trends, Indigenous communities, and environmental policy in Brazil, as the Biden administration works to enact an ambitious climate plan.
Andreoni will investigate the systemic failures that enable Amazon’s illegal economy to thrive, trampling on the constitutional rights of disenfranchised citizens and destroying the world’s largest rainforest.
