Zorayda Gallegos

Zorayda Guadalupe Gallegos Valle is an independent investigative journalist specializing in corruption, organized crime, money laundering, inequality, and human rights. Her reports have been published in El País, El Universal, Gatopardo, emeequis, Quinto Elemento Lab, and Mexicanos Contra la Corrupción y la Impunidad (MCCI), among other media outlets and organizations.

In her 20-year career, she has received numerous awards, including the TRACE Foundation's Investigative Journalism Award, the National Journalism Award in Mexico, and the IAPA Award for Excellence in Journalism, among others. She is co-author of the books Los 12 mexicanos más pobres (The 12 Poorest Mexicans), which portrays inequality and poverty in the country, and Tú y yo coincidimos en la noche terrible (You and I Coincided on the Terrible Night), which tells the life stories of journalists who have been murdered and disappeared in Mexico.

In 2021, she participated in the global Pandora Papers investigation led by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. She has been a speaker at international journalism events such as the Latin American Conference on Investigative Journalism (Colpin), and has taught various workshops on transparency, judicial journalism, and investigative methodology.
