Wes Bruer

A graduate of the University of Georgia and former political consultant and speechwriter, Wes Bruer began his journalism career as a freelancer in Cairo at the height of the Egyptian revolution. Eventually, Wes returned home to Georgia to join CNN International as a video journalist at the world headquarters before becoming an associate producer for CNNi's flagship program, iDesk. Wes was then recruited to craft the editorial strategy for CNN's newest platform, CNNgo, at the Washington, D.C. bureau before joining the criminal justice beat as a broadcast and digital producer. Wes left CNN at the end of 2016 and is currently a freelance photographer, videographer, and producer whose other work has been featured by ABC, The Daily Beast, Al Jazeera, Fusion, The Diplomatic Courier, and the Weekly Standard.
