Raihana Maqbool

Raihana Maqbool is an independent journalist based in Indian-administered Kashmir, covering Kashmir and India for the last seven years. Maqbool covers the underreported issues from Kashmir with a special focus on women, health, gender, human rights, climate, and conflict for various international news organizations.
Raihana's work has been published in organizations that include Nikkei Asia, The Wire Science, Women's Media Centre, Atlas Obscura, Health Policy Watch, GAVI the Vaccine Alliance, The Fuller Project, and many others.
Previously Raihana worked with Global Press Journal, an international news organization based in the United States covering Kashmir.
She holds a master's degree in mass communication and journalism and was the 2021 Summer Hills Draper fellow at Stanford University.
