Monique John

Monique John is a reporter for News 12 and a freelance international journalist from New York. Her work focuses on the African Diaspora and gender at the intersections of racial politics, sexuality, culture, violence against women and U.S. foreign policy. In 2017, Monique began working as a foreign correspondent covering Liberia's presidential election for the Voice of America. While based in the capital of Monrovia, she also worked as a stringer for the BBC and wrote features on Liberia's cases of sexual and gender-based violence, education, entrepreneurship and access to safe water among other topics for various outlets.
