Max Blaisdell

Max Blaisdell is an investigative journalist based in Chicago. He is a staff writer at the Hyde Park Herald and helps lead the Investigative hub at South Side Weekly. Blaisdell is also a fellow with the Invisible Institute, a nonprofit journalism outlet on Chicago's South Side.

Blaisdell's reporting has appeared in WIRED, Chicago magazine, The Appeal, and other local and national outlets.

His reporting on the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Brady Lists was named runner-up for the 2024 Driehaus Foundation Award for Investigative Reporting. He is the recipient of two Chicago Journalists Association Awards for his reporting on acoustic gunshot detection systems and an Iranian-American professor's travails in Iran.

He earned a master's degree from the University of Chicago and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco.
