Mahima Jain

Mahima Jain is an independent multimedia journalist writing on the socio-economics of gender, health, and the environment. Her work aims to highlight inequality and social injustice, systemic issues, and the voices of underrepresented groups.

She was a finalist for the Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award 2021, and her work was shortlisted for the Society of Publishers in Asia Awards, One World Media Awards, among others.

She has previously reported on women's access to health care and finance, migration, gender-based violence, and climate change impacts on marginalized communities. Her features, long-form stories, and podcasts have appeared in Indian and global media outlets, including Hakai Magazine, The Guardian, Scroll.in, BBC, Foreign Policy, The Caravan magazine, and The Fuller Project.

Prior to working as a freelancer, Jain was an editor at The Hindu Group and at London School of Economics' SouthAsia@LSE blog. She is based in Bengaluru, India.
