Leslie Roberts

Leslie Roberts is a freelance science writer specializing in global health. She was a longtime deputy news editor at the weekly magazine Science, supervising a team of award-winning journalists. She has written extensively on infectious diseases, including malaria, polio, measles, TB, and meningitis, and has received numerous awards.

Before her position at Science, Roberts was editor-in-chief at the World Resources Institute, a global environment and development think tank, where she and her team wrote about environment, development, and health. She was also a senior editor and editor–in–chief at Issues in Science and Technology, the policy journal of the National Academy of Sciences.

Roberts is the three-time winner of the Communications Award from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. In 2013, she won First Place at the Association of Health Care Journalists' Awards for Excellence and has twice won the Public Communications Award from the American Society for Microbiology.
