David Gauvey Herbert
David Gauvey Herbert is a Brooklyn-based freelance writer covering crime and security for Businessweek and Quartz. He has written about the rise of Uganda's mercenary export industry, Chinese prostitution in Africa and the weird world of Chinese casket imports. He has appeared on Bloomberg TV, MSNBC and CBS Radio.
David graduated from Stanford University in 2008 with a master's degree in journalism and a bachelor's degree in history. He previously covered foreign policy as a staff writer at National Journal in Washington, DC and later studied Mandarin in Beijing.
