Christian Karim Chrobog

GRANTEE

Christian Karim Chrobog is an investigative filmmaker and journalist. Chrobog has received some of the industry’s leading honors including the Tribeca Film Festival Audience Choice, the Crystal Heart, and ABC News awards. He has collaborated with flagship media organizations, including America Tonight, CNN, and HBO. His work has been supported by the Pulitzer Center and the MacArthur Foundation. 

He gravitates towards developing stories of hope and survival in the disarray of conflict, poverty and a changing climate, particularly making content accessible towards a new generation of audiences.

Chrobog produced and directed “War Child” about former child soldier turned international hiphop artist Emmanuel Jal, “Magic Bus” about girls living in the poorest slums of Mumbai and "A Better Future," a film about disappearing fishing communities in West Africa, produced for the World Bank Group. He executive-produced "Her Aim Is True," a feature documentary film on Jini Dillaccio, the first woman rock 'n' roll photographer. For Al Jazeera’s America Tonight News Hour, Karim executive-produced "The Other America," a series on poverty in America, and for the Mental Health Channel, he directed a series on mental illness affecting youth and veterans. He recently finished an investigative series on global food waste in collaboration with the Pulitzer Center and Yale University’s e-360 program.
