Brett Simpson

GRANTEE, 2021 REPORTING FELLOW

Brett Simpson is an audio and print journalist covering the intersections of health, the environment, and human rights. She is a 2021 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

As an audio producer, Simpson helped produce the award-winning radio show Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting and The Science of Happiness podcast. Her work has been recognized by the Overseas Press Club Foundation, the National Press Club, the White House Correspondents' Association, the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, the U.C. Berkeley Human Rights Center, and the U.C. Berkeley 11th Hour Food and Farming Project.

Simpson received a bachelor’s degree in English from Princeton University, where she twice won the Ferris Prize for Exceptional Journalism. Her print and audio work has appeared in The New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, Reveal, KQED, Earth Island Journal, Yale Climate Connections, and more.
