GRANTEE
Bastien Massa is a freelance journalist working in East Africa and the Middle East. His focus includes political and social issues, covering under-reported humanitarian crises.
From the fight against judicial impunity in the east of the DRC to the plight of Palestinian children and the crisis of displaced Afghans in Pakistan, Massa follows stories of individuals, whose voices are often overlooked.
During his documentary project Voices of the Nile, amidst the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam crisis, he found a profound interest in Sudan and the journey of its youth in a post-revolutionary context. For the past four years, he has been exploring their quest for democracy and continuous questioning of Sudanese identity in its various regions.
He has worked with several French media, including Le Figaro, Médiapart, Le Temps, Le Soir, and Marianne. He produced several news reports for TV5 Monde and co-directed two documentaries for Pan African Music in Egypt and Sudan.
