Ariel Zirulnick


Ariel Zirulnick is a Nairobi-based freelance journalist who has written for The Christian Science Monitor and its business spinoff Monitor Global Outlook, Quartz Africa, and The Independent.
She arrived in Kenya in 2014 after several years working on the Monitor's international desk in Boston, most recently as the Middle East editor. Since moving to the region Ariel has reported from across Kenya and also from Ethiopia, Chad, Tanzania, and Democratic Republic of Congo, receiving support from the International Reporting Project, International Women's Media Foundation, the Ford Foundation and the Pulitzer Center.
