Amelia Tyson

REPORTING FELLOW

Amelia Tyson is a documentary producer and filmmaker currently completing her MFA at American University. Her projects focus on stories that foster a sense of environmental stewardship and deepen our understanding of social issues related to justice and equality. Currently she is working on a short documentary that tells the story of how the global pandemic upended the life of a middle school student.

Tyson was the director of photography for a 2019 short 360 VR documentary film, Walking For Freedom, about the Venezuelan migrant crisis. Her other producer credits include Anacostia Revealed, Water: Keep It Flowing, as well as a 2019 short that explored the lives of people experiencing homelessness living in DC's "tent city."
