Amelia Blakely

2020 REPORTING FELLOW

Amelia Blakely started in journalism in 2017 as a reporter for the Daily Egyptian at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. In 2018, she became the news editor for the DE before starting at WSIU Public Radio as a radio news reporter. Blakely worked at WSIU for two years while also contributing to the Gateway Journalism Review, the Midwest's journalism review that is published out of SIUC. She attended Shawnee Community College in 2016-2017 before transferring to Southern Illinois University, where she received my bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Journalism in May 2020. Blakely tries to spend as much time as possible outside either skiing, gardening, swimming, or hiking. She also loves to read, cook, practice yoga and photography, play music, and volunteer with Rotary International.
