Alexa Vélez is the general editor at Mongabay Latam, a portal specializing in environmental news coverage for Latin America. Mongabay Latam has won the King of Spain and Inter American Press Association (IAPA) awards, as well as receiving three honorable mentions from the IAPA. The outlet was also named a finalist for national journalism awards in five countries in the region.
Vélez has more than 16 years of experience in investigative, political, and environmental journalism in print, digital, and television media. She is a journalist and a graduate of the Masters in Visual Anthropology program from the PUCP.
