Trump, Russia, and Pro-Ukrainian Figures Threaten Ukrainian Journalism

Country:

Author:

The challenges facing Ukraine's media have grown increasingly difficult since the invasion, from a Russian law allowing war critics to be penalized after they've left the country, to the sudden loss of USAID funding, to the gradual loss of engagement from European donors.

Still, independent Ukrainian media have said being threatened is part of their DNA; their commitment to their work is unwavering. For this project, journalist Annie Hylton follows prominent Ukrainian journalists and media executives to examine the dangers posed to them by government targeting, online harassment, and the drop-off funding.
