SECTIONS

The Pulitzer Center is excited to take part in Festival 3i, one of the most important gatherings of innovative and investigative journalism in Brazil, taking place June 6–8, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro.

For three days, this collaborative space will bring together media professionals, journalists, students, and civil society to explore how journalism can respond to the complex challenges of our time—through innovation, diversity, and dialogue.

For the Pulitzer Center, this participation reaffirms our long-standing commitment to fostering cross-border investigations, amplifying underrepresented voices, and connecting journalism with the communities it serves. We are proud to support and join several sessions across the festival, led by our grantees, fellows, and team members.

Featured sessions

Panel: The Impact of Journalism on Big Tech

June 6 | 5:30pm | 90 min

Rather than focusing only on how Big Tech is transforming journalism, this panel flips the script: How is journalism holding tech platforms accountable? With in-depth investigations, rigorous analysis, and persistent reporting, journalists have revealed opaque practices, social impacts, and threats to democracy posed by these companies. Pulitzer Center grantee Laís Martins joins this critical discussion on journalism’s role in increasing transparency and shaping public policy.

Workshop with Gustavo Faleiros: Leading Cross-Border Investigative Projects

June 6 | 5:00pm | 120 min

Complex global issues like organized crime, climate change, and supply chains often require international collaboration. In this workshop, Gustavo Faleiros, the Pulitzer Center's director of environmental investigations, will share best practices, tools, and real-world case studies to guide participants through planning and managing collaborative journalism across borders.

Panel: Building Connections Between Journalism and Communities as a Strategy Against Disinformation

June 7 | 1:30pm | 90 min

How can journalism strengthen trust and information integrity by collaborating with communities? Pulitzer Center grantee Eric Terena joins this panel to explore strategies that prioritize knowledge exchange, collective memory, and the co-creation of narratives that counter disinformation.

How Do We Know if Our Journalism Matters?

June 8 | 2:00pm | 90 min

What does journalistic impact look like today? This conversation brings together media outlets and audience specialists to discuss how impact can be understood beyond metrics like clicks. Jonatan Rodríguez, program manager at the Pulitzer Center, will join this dialogue on testimonies, legal and social change, and the responses of communities as signs of meaningful journalism.

Workshop with Tatiana Dias: Investigating Big Tech: Strategies and Pitfalls

June 8 | 9:30am | 120 min

In this workshop, Tatiana Dias, a Pulitzer Center AI Accountability Fellow and executive editor at the Intercept Brasil, will share methods and cases from her 17 years covering technology. Participants will learn how to report on Big Tech's influence while navigating challenges such as corporate secrecy, source protection, and the politics of platforms.

We look forward to joining forces with journalists, technologists, and storytellers at Festival 3i to keep building more transparent, inclusive, and impactful journalism.
