Ashonti Ford Will Speak to California College Students About Black Cowboys

National television news correspondent and Pulitzer Center grantee Ashonti Ford will meet virtually with students at Glendale Community College on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 4:00pm PDT. Ford will speak to students about her journalism career, and discuss her Pulitzer Center-supported project The Untold Story of Black Cowboys in America.

Ford is an award-winning journalist who appears on over 100 different television news stations every morning. She has received multiple Pulitzer Center grants to cover both international and domestic issues impacting farming communities, migrant workers, women, and children. 

Her most recent project, A Plea From an Afghan Ally, documents the experiences of Hassani, an Afghan war ally who fled Kabul after the Taliban takeover, and explores whether U.S. lawmakers have made good on their promises to support Afghan war allies.
