Beyond Hype & Alarmism: Elevating AI Coverage in the Newsroom
Featuring: Garance Burke, Varsha Bansal, Lam Thuy Vo, Gideon Lichfield
How should journalists and newsrooms prepare for and confront the current avalanche of AI proliferation and adoption? We should do what we do best: cover the story. Over the next two years, the Pulitzer Center is running the AI Spotlight Series, a program to train journalists around the world on AI—both the technology and the industry—to understand the powerful forces at play shaping this current moment and how to hold them accountable. Join us for a lively, wide-ranging discussion hosted by the MacArthur Foundation's Technology in the Public Interest program about what AI is, how to cut through the hype, and how to illuminate its impacts on society through richly reported human stories. We will also touch on something on everyone's mind: how AI is impacting our own industry, how to responsibly use this technology, and whether your newsroom should have an AI strategy.
