Pulitzer Center grantee Anna Louie Sussman will visit LaGuardia Community College on Monday, November 25, 2024, to discuss her reporting on gender and reproduction. Sussman’s recent Pulitzer Center-supported work explores the scientific and legal future of embryos and chronicles the 4B movement in South Korea in articles for The Atlantic and The Cut.
The 'Gender War' in South Korea looks at how evolving gender dynamics in Korea have contributed to a retreat from marriage, and even from dating. This is due to what one scholar calls “the gender war”: the rising antagonism between women and men, which plays out both online and in real life.
Sussman was a Russell Sage Foundation Visiting Journalist in 2022, a 2022 New America fellow, and she has been the recipient of numerous grants, fellowships, residencies, and awards, including from the Logan Nonfiction Program, MacDowell, and the Fetisov Journalism Award, among others.
She was previously a staff reporter at The Wall Street Journal and Reuters. She has written for The New York Times, The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, The Atlantic, and other publications.
