An English summary of this report is below. The original report, aired in French on RadioFrance, follows.

Violence impacts all sectors of society, and health care in Haiti is no exception. Hospitals are closing, staff are lacking, and the population is suffering. In addition, Haiti has been severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

However, some in Haiti are trying to respond by establishing low-cost health care systems independent of international aid, which is too unreliable.
