The persistence of agricultural land clearing in the area is one of the biggest problems in Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park (TNBNW). Conflicts between residents and the TNBNW Center have been going on for decades.
In recent years tensions have tended to ease after the implementation of Collaborative Ecosystem Restoration. The community is embraced and invited to work together to restore the ecosystem, but not by removing or evicting them.
This middle ground has put the two opposing sides on the same path, which is conservation. No one is harmed, including the biodiversity within.
