The Perilous Plight of Rainforest Epiphytes

Climate change is drying out plants in the cloud forest canopy. Losing these orchids, ferns, and other epiphytes could set off a cascade of changes for the whole rainforest water cycle. In hopes of better understanding the implications, researchers are climbing into the trees to simulate climate change's effects and document impacts in real time.
