Grantee Justin Catanoso spoke with WGHP, the Fox News affiliate in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, N.C., about his reporting project "Saving Eden: Francis Exerts His Moral Authority" ahead of the pope's visit to Washington, D.C.

Catanoso reported from Peru, a devoutly Catholic country heavily dependent on exploiting its abundant natural resources. He found that the pope's message on protecting the environment was receiving mixed reviews from business elites, government officials and ordinary workers. Catanoso is director of journalism at Wake Forest University, one of the Pulitzer Center's Campus Consortium partners.
