Food distribution is one part of NGO strategy to help Nigeriens through crisis times such as the 2010 food shortage.

As the approach to development changes and development workers look for strategies to reduce native dependency on foreign work, food distributions are changing as well. Some, like this one, have reduced-price strategies as an incentive for farmers to practice new planting patterns.
