The green energy transition is reshaping our world—but at what cost?
Deep in the Arctic, Greenland is becoming ground zero for a new resource rush. As melting ice opens up shipping routes and geopolitical tensions demand new supply lines, the minerals needed for renewable energy are turning this island into the next frontier for industrial development.
But there's a dark irony: Arctic shipping traffic has doubled since 2010 and black carbon emissions have surged 85%. The ships carrying these "green" resources are accelerating Arctic ice melt through black carbon emissions, threatening local communities and ecosystems.
This video investigates the tension between global green energy goals and the local consequences in Greenland.
