Spousal violence, one of the most common expressions of gender-based violence, knows no borders or cultures. In Europe, Mexican migrant women, and women of other nationalities, suffer it constantly.

This research aims to draw attention to the abuse and show the hard battle that victims face when they decide to leave their lives in Mexico and start new ones with their violent partners. It focuses mainly on four countries: Germany, Spain, France, and Belgium. These are the territories in Europe where Mexican migration—especially among women—has increased in recent years. The stories presented are stories that belong to victims who, being migrants and women, are neither visible nor represented within European society or in the media.
