The reclamation of the ex-mining land of PT Newmont Minahasa Raya (PT NMR), which is now a botanical garden, has had a big impact on biodiversity in an area of 221 hectares located in Bukit Mesel, Ratatotok, Southeast Minahasa, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Biodiversity in this reclaimed forest is high, with 83 species of understorey plants, 53 species of pole-level plants, and 55 species of tree-level plants. The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) said there were 66 species of plants resulting from revegetation in Megawati Soekarnoputri Gardens.
