Women of the Gran Chaco: Work, Climate, and Resilient Economies

This reporting project explores how climate change is reshaping the lives and livelihoods of rural and Indigenous women in Argentina’s Gran Chaco, one of South America’s most environmentally vulnerable regions. Facing prolonged droughts, deforestation, and economic instability, many women are developing innovative and sustainable ways to support their families while protecting local ecosystems.

Through narrative storytelling, field reporting, and data analysis, the series examines the intersection of climate, labor, and gender inequality. It highlights women leading agroecological production, community-based enterprises, and fair-trade artisan networks that generate income while strengthening environmental resilience.

Produced by WINN in partnership with Infobae, this project combines in-depth features, photography, and multimedia storytelling to bring visibility to communities often excluded from national climate and economic debates. By documenting both the challenges and the solutions emerging from the territory, the series aims to contribute evidence and human stories to broader conversations about sustainable development and a just transition in Latin America.
