Refugees From the Earth

Propublica and The New York Times Magazine reported from Central America, Mexico and the United States to trace the potential impact of an overheating planet on human migration.

The findings, relying on a sophisticated model for predicting people's decisions to flee uninhabitable parts of the globe, make clear that without urgent action a vast re-mapping of the planet's population could lead to catastrophe.

About Our Climate Migration Model

The climate migration model aims to understand how climate change might lead to population shifts in Central America and Mexico, including how people may move across borders between these countries and to the United States.

The Great Climate Migration
