Betsy Saavedra travels to her birthplace Lima, Peru to investigate the housing situation for lower-income residents. Many families have lived in their homes for more than four decades, but do not have legal possession. The Westchester Community College student fellow examines the efforts of these residents or "squatters" to obtain titles to their homes. She reports on their struggle to obtain basic utilities such as a water, electricity and better schools, as well as confrontations with local authorities who look for ways to evict them.
