The Rio Grande watershed provides drinking water for over 14 million people in the U.S. and Mexico, and supports billions of dollars of agriculture on both sides of the border. With international reservoirs drying up, the risk to drinking water cannot be overstated: Some experts believe that Texas cities like Laredo (population 350,000) and Brownsville (population 200,000) could run out of drinking water by the end of this year.
