The Gulf Coast has become the epicenter for exporting liquefied natural gas globally. This region is already heavily industrialized as a result of the natural gas boom, but this is more than a domestic problem. The buildout along the fragile coastline is part of a larger international scheme, and the climate implications involved are enormous.

All Gassed Up follows the quiet, massive buildout of the industry from Louisiana to Germany and on to Japan. The three-part podcast series explores what the construction of a massive LNG infrastructure buildout means for the neighboring communities and the surrounding environment in the U.S. and abroad.

Part one starts in Louisiana—ground zero for new export development. Part two takes the narrative to Germany, where a big buildout of LNG import terminals is underway. Part three is focused on Japan, the world’s largest importer, where a country contends with whether a fuel that’s been billed as the bridge to renewables is really a bridge to nowhere.
